Description

Offered for sale:

Vintage 1989 Gibson Les Paul Custom serial number 8145957.

This guitar is in good condition. Neck and frets are fine, cosmetically showing 35 years of patina with nicks and marks about the body. There is finish checking in places, gold tarnishing and wear.

We had the original neck pickup rewound by Kent Armstrong.

The serial number was scratched out and then restamped. That’s odd. Here’s my theory. This instrument was stolen. The serial number was scratched off. The guitar was recovered by the owner. Being, a very detailed oriented person (there are other markings inside the guitar indicating his record keeping practices), the owner knew the serial number and had it re-stamped on the headstock. All is right with the world (except for the headstock scar).

The 1989 post Norlin Les Paul Custom features a mahogany body (not pancake), maple top, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard with a 1-11/16” width at the nut. Pearl block inlays, double bound body, bound headstock and fingerboard, pearl inlaid head veneer, deluxe gold-plated Grover tuners, gold-plated humbuckers with traditional controls. Gold-plated Nashville tune-o-matic bridge and a stop bar tail piece.

The non-weight relieved body weighing in at 10.2lbs gives this instrument the full-bodied tone that have players seeking out a Les Paul with a bit of heft. Even unplugged this guitar has impressive sustain. Own a Black Beauty!

Original hard-shell case included.

“We carefully inspect every instrument when we buy it and bring it up to our standards before we offer it for sale. We also do a full set up before we ship.”

“If you decide to purchase this guitar, please let us know what gauge strings you prefer.”

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
