This is a 1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom, '54 Reissue, One Owner, 100% Original, VG+. This guitar was originally purchased at Quigley Music in Kansas City, MO in early 1973.
Features:
Finish: Ebony Body:1-Piece Mahogany Neck:1-Piece Mahogany (no volute) Binding: Multiple layered on body, neck and headstock. Fingerboard: Ebony. Number of Frets: 22 (Original frets and block inlays) Neck Pickup:1 x Alnico - Bridge Pickup:1 x P-90. Pickup Controls: 2 x Volume, 2 x Tone, 3-way Toggle Switch. Bridge: Tune-O-Matic (studs directly into the wood). Tuners: Grover "Waffleback" Tuners. Hardware: Gold Plated. Serial Number: 6 - Digit with "LE" prefix.
The guitar is a nice Les Paul Custom, has the really low (Fretless Wonder) frets which allow for very fast action. The frets are original with little wear and the knibs are still intact. There is one ding ( 1/4" x 1/8") on lower back of neck.
Pot Codes are 137 7303 (CTS, 3rd week of 1973). Neck PUP: 6.74, Bridge PUP: 8.24K. Action at 12th fret: Hi E 4/64, Low E 2/64. Action is too low to measure at 1st fret is, but does not buzz through the amp. If you like low action, this is your guitar! The guitar weighs 9 1/2 lbs on a bathroom scale.
Some other things to mention in the interest of full disclosure: There is some hazing & dulling of the finish on top. A wet sanding of the face with a very light grade of wet sandpaper followed with buffing will make it look new again (after speaking with a shop I've used for years).
There is a blemish/some finish lifting between the Tone Controls( 1 1/4" x 3/4"). Back plate is missing 1 screw. D & G tuners are bent but fully functional. There is 1 pencil eraser-sized ding through the wood on the top. There are some dings on the bottom side of the guitar below the controls. Some scratches on the back but no belt buckle wear. The handle and one retainer bracket are missing from the case, but they are readily available. Otherwise, the case is in EXC condition.
Was $10K, Now $7,500
