1970's Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Gold (1971-1974)

There are "closet-classic" guitars and then there are pieces that really got out there and worked the road. Usually these pieces get tweaked a little here and a little there, part up-keep and partly to individualize them into true "one of a kinds."

This Deluxe probably started out life as a Goldtop before getting the painted sanded off the top for an au-natural look (the back has the original clear lacquer with no tints-- usually the sign of a Goldtop). The top has since been repainted gold but a lighter shade than you'd normally find from the factory. As is quite common the mini-humbuckers were swapped out for P-90s which fit in the same routes. This is a set from the 60s or early 70s and they have the vintage sound that the new ones can't touch. The wiring harness had been changed along with pretty much everything else so if you're looking to grab some collectible parts to steal then this is not the guitar for you. The tuners are a nice touch with the split shafts so you won't prick your fingers on the strings. The neck was also sanded down and it has a wide/thin feel to it. Typical LP weight at 9.4 lbs. Hard case included.
