Description

Summary: In late 1960, Gibson replaced the Les Paul body shape with the SG design. When the original Les Paul was relaunched in the late '60s, the new "Standard" in the catalog was dubbed the Les Paul Deluxe until the actual Standard came back in in 1975 (though there were a few reissues of '50s Standards made in 1968 and 1969). The new Les Paul Deluxe included a four-ply Maple and Mahogany body, a three-piece Maple neck, and mini-humbuckers instead of PAFs.

Body: Single cutaway solidbody - Four-ply Mahogany/Maple body with a fully bound top.

Neck: Fully bound Three-piece Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard. The frets do still have some life in them but down the road this guitar will need a refret. This guitar does have the volute on the back of the neck!

Pickups/Hardware: Two mini-humbuckers. Two volume and two tone controls with gold top hat knobs. Cream plastics (pickguard, pickup rings). ABR tuneomatic bridge and stop tail piece. Gibson Deluxe tuning keys.

Cosmetics: This guitar does show normal wear for a 1970's Gibson that has been used but taken care of over the years. There is a large place on the back where the finish is completely gone due to buckle rash. The top has some very cool checking and there are lots of dings and nicks - there is one noteable scratch next to the pickguard that is .75" long and one noteable ding on the top bout of the guitar near the binding. The sides of the instrument shows lots of wear around the edges so you can tell this guitar has been played and loved.

Playability: This guitar plays and sounds awesome. The instrument has low action and we have set it up with 10's.

Weight: 9 lb, 6 oz.

Case: Original hard shell.
