1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior Cherry

This 1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior (serial #924963) is in very good vintage condition. This instrument has been played a lot in its 66 years and it shows signs of wear and age throughout including some finish fading, finish checking, scratches, dings, buckle wear on the back of the body, some small dings on the back of the neck and a slightly bent G string tuner that still functions perfectly. This Junior is free of any breaks or repairs and is original throughout with the exception of the two black plastic bonnet knobs and the small black plastic output jack plate. The Bigsby tailpiece is era correct and appears to have been on this guitar forever - The finish is bright cherry underneath the Bigsby. The electronics harness is untouched and the original dog ear P-90 has a strong output. This Les Paul Junior has the quintessential and coveted mid to late ‘59 neck carve that just feels right at home in the hand… It is chunky and comfortable with a 1 11/16” nut width. The dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard is beautiful and clean and it is free of any dents or divots. This guitar was professionally refretted at some point (years ago, I believe) and sports some medium jumbo frets that do show some wear, but are still in great shape and have tons of life left. This guitar has been professionally set up and it plays like absolute butter up and down the fingerboard with low sweet action and good intonation. The original P-90 pickup sounds superb and totally destroys through every amplifier that we have run this thing through. This is a seriously righteous sounding Junior.

We love 1950s Les Paul Juniors and have had many of them come through the shop over the years, but this example is sonically superior and has an unbeatable vibe. The Bigsby tailpiece on this example operates smoothly and stays in tune very well. On top of that, in my opinion, it adds another layer of inspiration to this guitar - It just adds something a bit special and gives you more options in the creative department. Run this Junior straight into a cranked Deluxe Reverb with the reverb up and you’ll see what I mean! This Gibson Les Paul Junior weighs 7lb 2oz and is housed in a 1970s Gibson Protector (Chainsaw) case (one of the latches is broken but still works).
