1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior Cherry Red

Very good condition featuring pre-SG double cutaway mahogany slab body, single ply tortoiseshell grain pickguard, one dog ear P-90, one volume control and one tone control with black reflector top knobs, wraparound stud tailpiece, mahogany neck, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with pearloid inlays starting at the third fret, bone nut, Gibson open book peghead, black peghead face with gold Gibson logo and silkscreen Les Paul Junior logo, single ply bell shaped truss rod cover, three on a plate per side Kluson Deluxe tuning machines with white oval plastic buttons, single ply black electronics control cavity plate, multi-ply black output jack plate, two metal strap buttons, cherry red stain finish, and 1970s Gibson protector case. This guitar weighs 6lb 11oz.

This 1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior is in very good cosmetic condition showing signs of play wear, finish checking, fading, nicks, dings and pick scratches (see photos). The fingerboard on this Junior has been professionally refretted and the guitar has been set up. The newer frets show little signs of play wear and the instrument plays spectacular up and down the fingerboard. The bridge studs are perfectly straight and are not leaning in any way and help keep the intonation in good order. The neck profile on this guitar is that of a mid 1959 carve and feels absolutely fantastic in hand. This guitar has a fat and substantial neck. The finish looks incredible and shows some signs of fading on the top. The finish on the back of the body has a light clear overspray that seems to have been done many years ago. There is no overspray anywhere else on the instrument. The electronics are all original and have not been tampered with in any way. The original dog ear P-90 delivers some extremely raunchy rock ‘n’ roll tones through an overdriven amp and is perfect for rock, rhythm, blues and even slide.

This double cutaway Les Paul Junior was well loved for good reason. It is a very special instrument and one of the best playing examples I’ve seen in years. If you’re looking for a late 50s Les Paul that plays and sounds ridiculously good and is also a great investment, don’t look past this guitar.
