1956 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top Dark Back

What struck me when I first saw this 56 dark back gold top was the top carve...unusually deep and dramatic, this Les Paul makes a statement before it plays a note. This is a no issue, collector grade guitar. There isn't much to write because there is nothing to write about. It's original down to the frets (almost no wear) and case. OK, it's got 2 dings on the front and some buckle scratches that aren't through the finish on the back. Dark backs shows even the shallowest scratches-nature of the beast. It is unusually light weight at 8 lbs 1 ounce lbs and a wonderful player. Neck is fat and round and very comfortable. The pickups go from sweet to dirty and nasty with a turn of the volume control. If you're going to own one Les Paul and you budget isn't in burst territory, then 56 is the year and this is your guitar.
