Up for sale is a fantastic 1974 Gibson Les Paul Special 74/55 in its original sunburst finish that is pretty specific to this model. Built in the mid-1970s, the 74/55 Special was Norlin-era Gibson recreating the famed 1950s single cut Les Paul Special and although there are some differences they did get a fair amount of things right. Features include a one-piece mahogany body with a three-piece mahogany neck with a slimmer ’60s profile, dual soap-bar P90 pickups, and a wraparound tailpiece. The wiring harness was upgraded with what appears to be an Emerson Custom wiring harness, the tuners have been replaced with modern Schaller drop in tuners that resemble the originals, the truss rod cover has been replaced, and there is an additional strap button hole on the butt of the body. Pro setup in-house and comes complete with a first generation Gibson “chainsaw” hardshell case that when latched is sturdy but when unlatched the top piece separates from the bottom.
