This 2002 Gibson Les Paul Special Faded is in excellent cosmetic condition. This instrument shows only faint signs of play wear throughout including some wearing of the finish in the forearm area, back of the neck and volume control area. The bridge pickup cover has been removed and one of the plastic volume knobs has a small crack. This guitar is overall in exceptional shape, appears to have been very well cared for and is cleaner than the majority of these models as they have a very thin finish. The neck profile on this Special is that of a slimmer Gibson taper with a 1 11/16” nut width a flatter center and rounded shoulders. This neck shape is very comfortable and is a blast to play! The original frets on this guitar show only the slightest signs of play wear. This guitar plays fantastic up and down the fingerboard with low action, great string tension and excellent intonation. The electronics in this guitar are all original and are in perfect working order. The original Gibson 498T and 490R humbuckers both sound terrific and are very open and aggressive sounding - perfect for rock, rhythm and blues. This guitar is housed in a non-original but great fitting aftermarket Les Paul case for safe travels. The Faded Series Gibson guitars were a true bargain when they were brand new and offered the customer an exceptional American made instrument that featured great tone woods, high quality hardware and electronics at a very reasonable price. These instruments, 20 years later, still offer an incredible value proposition and still deliver those killer Gibson sounds that we all love. This example is stellar and in brilliant condition. If you’ve been after one of these, I would definitely recommend scooping this one up.
