1989 Les Paul Special w/p-100
Les Paul Junior was introduced in 1954 as a popular model of Les Paul. The following year, the Les Paul Special appeared as a 2-pickup version of Les Paul Junior with neck binding. This 1989 Les Paul Special is a reproduction of the original model, but with P-100 pickups, which are P-90 pickups with reduced noise. The P-100 pickup has a vertical humbucking construction, and while it has low noise, it has inherited a sound that has both the roughness of the treble range and the fatness of the mid-range. The neck is made of one-piece mahogany, which is thinner and offers high playing performance. The Les Paul Special has the traditional specifications and sound of the Les Paul Special, but with improved playability for the modern age.
