Gibson Les Paul Standard Conversion 1956 to 1958 Sunburst

Here's a 1958 Gibson Les Paul Conversion. The guitar comes to us from an amazing private collection. This was converted from a 1956 Les Paul Goldtop, with all the work being done by Dan Shinn, of Lay's Guitar Shop in Ohio. Dan is world renown for his conversion work, and this is another incredible example of his work! The guitar is light weight, super resonant, and as you can see, has one of the most beautiful & stunning flame tops you'll ever see!!

Dan stripped, re-sanded, and finished the guitar (front, back, sides) with nitro cellulose lacquer (thin skin). It was re-topped as well, hence the amazing flame! The finish was inspired by Duane Allman's '58/'59 tobacco sunburst Les Paul. The body and neck are original to '56, as well as the tuners, bridge/tailpiece, pickguard, selector switch, and pots. The caps are changed, but the original bumble bee's are included. The pickups are a set of Bare Knuckle PAF's (Mules), which are a fantastic match for the guitar. They're as close in tone to the real thing as it gets!! With its coveted '56 profile, the neck is a dream to play. Playability is exceptional, with slinky low action down the board. The neck profile is an ever so slight V, with the shoulders rolled. The guitar was also re-fretted by Dan, and the work is top notch! This beauty is nearly impossible to put down. Original brown case included (w/ new handle)!!!
