Tobacco Sunburst, very rare, all stock except restored tuners, with ’74 pots. The shipping ledgers show the Standard not starting again until 1975. But they show 28 Les Paul Deluxe with HBPU shipped in ’74. These some believe were made for a large store by special request. Anyone shopping for Les Paul’s in the 70’s will tell you large pickup Standards were impossible to find. This one was not routed and the electronics have unbroken solder, pots dating to ‘74. The tuners were replaced but the original nickel plated Klusons (stamped Gibson and Kluson) have been put back on. It’s 9.5 pounds, has great color and shows little wear. The frets are good, only light buckle rash and neckwear. Only a few dings and scratches that are hard to find. It’s always interesting these 70’s Les Paul’s are “bursted” back of body, neck, sides of headstock and sides on body. And they still used real lacquer so rather amazing details. Great sound, nice rounded medium-sized neck and original wooden Gibson hard shell case.
