Description
Summary: Gibson was heavily pushing the Les Paul Deluxe and Les Paul Custom during the Norlin Era years, but full-sized humbucker Standards started making their way out of the factory via special order in the mid-70s. The Les Paul Standard did not make a return to the actual catalog until 1976 and has remained in production ever since. This 1979 Les Paul Standard has a tobacco sunburst finish, a 2-piece maple top, and a thin, fast neck.

Body: Mahogany with a bound 2-piece Maple top finished in Tobacco Sunburst.

Neck: Three-piece neck with a bound Rosewood fingerboard, 24.75” scale length, 1 11/16” nut width, 22 frets, pearl trapezoid inlays.

Pickups/Hardware: Two original humbuckers, Gibson tuning keys, 2x volume/2xtone controls/3-way pickup selector, tun-o-matic bridge/stop bar tailpiece, cream pickguard/switch ring.

Cosmetics: This guitar has light surface scratches throughout. It has one small ding on the top of the body (See Photos Please). The back of the neck is clean and smooth, and the frets are in great shape. This guitar is in excellent condition for an instrument from the late-70s.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.
