9.0 out of 10 condition. All original including solder joints and FANTASTIC SOUNDING TIM SHAW PUPS. This one has the early Tim Shaws (warm vintage tone) w/the date stamp only. Some dings/scratches, a 2x2 inch section of indentations, looks like they were caused by some sort of necklace medallion (nothing through the finish, only seen at certain angle and cannot be captured on a photo) and hardware oxidation. Stunning color/nice quilt top. Medium C/D neck!! Minor fret wear. Neck is real straight. Action can be set real low!! Beautiful Ebony board!! The ebony board/Tim Shaws make this guitar sound like a 1957 Les Paul Custom fitted with P.A.F pickups. The clean OHSC has a replacement handle.
The guitar weighs 10.1 lbs
This was one OF Gibson's early 1959 reissues. There were 3 types of Gibson Les Paul Heritage Series Standard 80. The Standard, The Elite and The Award.
Heritage series standard 80 / Elite model. One piece Maghogany Body quilted tops 1 piece Maghogany neck, neck medium to semi big profile. Ebony Fingerboard Trapeze mother of pearl inlay Narrow binding in the cut away. Grover kidney tuners. 2 Tim Shaw designed Humbuckers Truss rod cover says Heritage series standard – 80 Elite. Back of headstock has regular serial number and 4 extra digits underneath, and a “made in the U.S.A” stamp. all numbers and letters are stamp.
Soundwise I would compare them to a 1957 Les Paul Custom fitted with P.A.F pickups. They have a bit more edge to the tone than the rosewood Standard. Overall a fantastic guitar
