Up for sale, a 1985 Gibson Les Paul Studio in excellent condition and in good working order. Introduced in '82, this particular Studio has been upgraded with a pair of Zhangbucker "Pagey 2" PAF-style humbuckers along with a Faber bridge and tailpiece! Aged to a lightly yellowed creme color, this Les Paul has a powerful acoustic tone and the near endless sustain associated with a good Gibson. Weighing in at 8lbs 8oz, this Les Paul is easy on the back and balances well on a strap. Returning to the roots of the original PAF design, the Zhangbucker humbuckers have rich harmonic overtones, with bell and flute-like tones in the neck position that have the right amount of roundness, and plenty of touch sensitive shimmer at the bridge. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Les Paul Studio has fresh 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The neck has a slender, 60s style C profile, with a full 1 11/16" nut width and a rosewood fretboard. The neck profile increases in depth slightly as you move into the higher registers of the fretboard, and the shoulders of the profile slope back gently, providing a very fast and comfortable playing surface. The original medium jumbo frets are intact with light wear beneath the plain strings in the first position, and sparingly little wear further up the neck. On the headstock, the original "Studio" truss rod cover is present, and the nickel "Gibson" stamped Schaller-made tuning machines turn smoothly and have a very solid feel with unique ivoroid buttons.

All of the electronics work as they should, with the aforementioned Zhangbucker Pagey 2 pickups. The wiring harness features the original CTS pots which date to the first weeks of '85, along with a pair of paper in oil Sprague tone caps that have a sweetness and smooth treble roll off reminiscent of a Bumblebee cap. The bridge has been upgraded with Faber's USA made Tone Lock ABR-1 style bridge and corresponding stopbar tailpiece, with their "no gap" technology that provides a very secure and reliable fit on your instrument, delivering optimal sustain. The original black speed knobs, switch ring, and pickguard are intact.

Cosmetically, the guitar shows age appropriate and very cool moderate yellowing of the original white finish to a lightly yellowed shade of creme. The original nitro lacquer finish has moderate finish checking, particularly behind the bridge, on the back of the headstock, and near the rear strap button. The guitar is 100% structurally sound, with zero cracks or repairs, and the original finish shows no touchups or overspray. This is a lovingly played vintage Gibson, with some small expected nicks around the edges of the body and faint light scratches on the back, but overall a very solid instrument with great patina.

A hardshell case is included.
