Circa late 1940s Gibson LG-1 in NATURAL finish in overall very good condition, serial number 88898. Based on physical attributes, this is a late 1940s Gibson LG-1: ladder bracing, mahogany back and sides, spruce top, late 40s logo, straight original bridge. The serial number is stamped on the inside on the neck block, but is somewhat confusing when consulting the lists of serial numbers and factory order numbers. Physical traits put t his at a 57-47 model. This NATURAL finish looks to be original, which is fairly rare as most of these were sunburst. This LG has had a crack repair to the back side, newer bridge saddle, newer bridge pins, and a new high quality pick guard. There is also a crack repair to the lower large bout side, as well as a repaired hole to the side - see photos. The frets on this LG are in great shape - action is nice and low and playability is excellent. These small body acoustics have a simple and wonderful tone - sweet and bluesy - very intimate - great to write and record with. There are scratches and dings, wear to the back of the neck and headstock - but this is all honest playwear and wear from years of life. If you are looking for a great playing vintage Gibson that won't break the bank - but WILL find a place in your home and heart - this is a great one. Call 859-261-5500 for an in hand description - many photos available. Thanks.
