1964 Gibson LG-1 Cherry Sunburst

This 1964 Gibson LG-1 is in excellent vintage cosmetic condition and is in excellent playing order. This guitar shows only very light signs of play wear throughout and is overall just exceptionally tidy. The top is flat, the neck angle is optimal, the truss rod is fully functional and the bridge saddle is medium height with room to be lowered if desired. The body of this guitar is crack free and free of any repairs and the braces are all tight. The bridge on this LG-1 has been replaced and there is a very slight “shadow” from the original bridge that is very hard to see. There is about a 2” finish crack running longways on the back of the peghead and neck. It is very unnoticeable and it was extremely hard to capture in photos. This LG-1 has a great feeling small rounded neck profile with a 1 /11 16” nut width. This neck feels super comfy, is very easy to play and thanks to the wide nut width is not cramped feeling like most 1965 and later models with the narrow 1 9/16” nut width. The rosewood fingerboard on this guitar is clean and has very nice color. The frets are in excellent condition and show very little wear. They are tall and free of any dents or divots. This guitar does not buzz or fret out anywhere and is just a great player. This guitar has received a set up here in our shop and it plays excellent up and down the fingerboard with low action and great intonation. This LG-1 is a particularly great sounding example and it excels for fingerpicking and strumming alike with a very dry even tone with a nice thumpy low end and a crisp articulate top end. An excellent sounding little ladder braced flat top indeed.
