Description

Gibson LG1 1964 | $1650 | (v2129) Gibson LG1 made in Kalamazoo in 1964. The LG1 was a ladder-braced offering in the Gibson catalog, slightly cheaper than the X-braced LG2, but made with the same skill and quality materials.

The back and sides are mahogany. The top is spruce with the classic Gibson sunburst and pointy pick guard, bound in white celluloid. The neck is mahogany. Fingerboard and bridge are Brazilian rosewood. The tuners are enclosed Kluson DeLuxe. The head stock is painted black and sports the 'Gibson' logo.

The body measures 14 5/16" across at the lower bout. Scale length is about 24 7/8". The finger board measures 1 11/16" across at the nut and string spacing is 2" across at the saddle.

Prior repairs appear to be a replacement bridge and a neck reset. The frets show some playing wear. The finish is original, and shows checking, nicks and dings from age and use. One tuner shaft is bent slightly.

Action is set at 6 & 7/64" and the guitar plays nicely. The tone produced is among the better LG1s we've offered, woody and warm with nice sustain.

Comes with a new Gator hard case.
