2000 Gibson 345 “Lucille” Singed by B.B. King

Summary: This long-running Gibson signature model is based on the various modified ES-355s used by blues legend B.B. King. Like King's guitars, the Lucille model lacks F-holes to reduce feedback and features a tunable TP-6 bridge. Over the course of its production run, the headstock inlay shifted from saying "Lucille" to a larger B.B. King emblem. This specific 345 was played and signed by the blues legend B.B. King and we have the paperwork from the curator of musical instruments over at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston to verify it!

Body: This version of the 345 guitar has no f holes as per B.B.’s request to cut down on feedback. The top, back and sides are all laminate maple. The top has 7 ply b/w/b binding and the back has 3 ply b/w/b binding. It has a beautiful ebony finish and B.B.’s golden signature of course.

Neck: The neck is one piece mahogany with a c profile, white bound ebony fingerboard and 4 ply bound headstock. The fingerboard has 22 frets, block inlays, 1 11/16” nut width and 24 ¾” scale length.

Pickups/Hardware: This guitar has the famous varitone switch with mono or stereo outputs to control the two gold Gibson humbuckers. It is appointed with beautiful gold hardware, tuneable TP-6 bridge, gold Gibson keystone tuners, b/w/b bound tortoise pickguard, three way toggle switch and 2 volume/2 tone.

Cosmetics: This Gibson is in fantastic shape. It looks like it’s barely been played in its time. There is some slight finish checking around the headstock binding and nut area as well as some scratching around the volume/tone controls, slight scuffing around B.B.’s signature and a very small amount of buckle rash.

Playability: This instrument has been set up with low action by our in house luthier and strung up with a new set of 10’s. It plays fabulously with a straight neck and frets with tons of life left in them.

Modifications: B.B. Kings signature

Weight: 9 lbs, 7 oz.

Case: This Lucille will ship in the beautiful original, brown Gibson hardshell case with red plush interior and pink slip cover inside. Inside the case is a letter to verify the signature and a hand written letter from the curator of musical instruments at the Museum of Fine Arts written to the original owner with B.B. Kings’ pick from the concert he played the instrument at.
