Summary: This vintage Gibson Pelham Blue Melody Maker D SG has some of the coolest weather checking in the finish and is playing beautifully thanks to a professional refret and setup! It ships in a cool vintage Ibanez brown hard-shell case full packed, padded and insured.

Body: Double cutaway SG body with Pelham Blue finish which has aged nicely over the years and checked beautifully as well. The original white pickguard has aged to a rich creamy white color.

Neck: Mahogany 24 ¾” scale length neck with rosewood fingerboard, 22 frets, 1.56” nut width.

Pickups/Hardware: It has 2 single coil pickups, 3 way switch, 2 volumes, 2 tones, Kluson Deluxe tuners, intonated stopbar bridge and vibrato tailpiece.

Cosmetics: This guitar has plenty of finish checking in the neck and body, a few dents in the finish on the back of the neck, some dents around the edges of the body, one ding on the top by the tailpiece, some file marks in the edge of the fingerboard around some fret ends (from a previous refret that we had to redo) and some chips around the edges of the headstock.
There is some evidence of the neck either being reset or creeping forward over the years because the neck angle is a bit shallow and there is a small crack in the finish around the neck/body joint. If you want to play the guitar with the vibrato bar you must raise the action higher than our typical shop setup.

Playability: Our in house guitar tech has just re-fretted this guitar with era-correct Jescar fretwire, planed the fingerboard and set the action low and comfortable with a straight neck. The neck angle is a bit shallow so the bridge is lowered to the end of its adjustment but it is still absolutely playable up and down the fingerboard and it sounds great.

Modifications: When we got this guitar it had been re-fretted poorly so we had our in-house guitar tech put new frets in it. The stop tailpiece bridge is an aftermarket replacement.

Weight: 6 lbs, 3 oz.

Case: This vintage Gibson ships in a 1970’s brown Ibanez hard case and we will ship it professionally packaged & fully insured.
