Description

Offered here is one of our favorite Gibson models, one that I call their "old style" '63 ES 335 Block Reissue. This version of the '63 ES 335 was introduced in 2013 as their "50th Anniversary" model. It is (was) built much more like the original upon which it is based with a more accurate body shape, nylon saddles, constructed with natural hide glues, a lighter center block and it is given a VOS (light aging) treatment which makes it look, feel and play more like a vintage instrument. Gibson continued making this model beyond 2013 due to popular demand.

This particular example (serial number 61842) was built in 2016 and is a "Hand Selected" limited run version with a Vintage Sunburst nitrocellulose finish. This guitar has a medium C-shaped neck with depth measurements of .84" at the first fret increasing to .99" at the twelfth fret. This example is particularly light, even for this model, weighing just 7-3/4 pounds (7 pounds, 12 ounces). It has: a 24.75" string scale; a 1.70" nylon nut; a 12" radius fretboard made of nicely figured rosewood; Gibson MHS humbucker pickups; and an ABR-1 bridge with stop bar tailpiece.

These are great guitars that have a decidedly vintage look and feel. Clean or overdriven this guitar has a tone that pleases. Please check out the brief sound sample included below. This beauty has been given a fresh setup and it plays great too! We've sold dozens of examples of this model over the years for very good reason.

This 2016 model is in "excellent minus" condition. If you look really closely you will find it has a few tiny impressions on the body and neck (see photos). The neck impressions are not felt while playing. The frets are in superb condition. The guitar comes in its original black tolex case with the gold lining along with the certificate of authenticity.

This is a great example of a iconic Gibson model and at a great price. Click the 'Buy Now' button and make this sweet piece yours today!
