Description

Offered here is one of the limited edition '61 ES-335 guitars named for one of rock's most talented and versatile guitarists, Warren Haynes. This is number 178 of the 500 that were built in 2014.

Each of these instruments were built to be as close as reasonably possible to the specs of Warren's own, well-played vintage '61 ES-335. As such, this guitar has a three ply laminated body with cream binding. Like Warren's guitar, it has a transitional neck shape which I would describe as "wide and thin" like you would find on an SG, with a 1.70" nut and depth measurements of .84" at the 1st fret increasing to .90" at the 12th fret. This example is nice and light weighing just 7.8 pounds.

While the guitars in this limted run were originally equipped with Burstbucker 1 and 2 humbuckers, this guitar is currently equipped with what appear to be older Gibson PAF sticker pickups. While I cannot be sure what these are or when they were made they sound great and quite strong in their output. This guitar has it's factory equipped Sprague Black Beauty caps and Gibson tone pots, but the volume pots on this guitar have been upgraded to units from CTS. The stock reflector knobs have also been switched out to black top hats for purely cosmetic purposes. All the original parts, including the original Burstbucker pickups are included in the case.

If you are a fan of ES-335's you will LOVE this example. It feels great in your hands, plays superbly and the tone is fat and woody. Check out the brief sound sample provided - this guitar sings!

The original owner of this guitar took exceptional care of this instrument. The upgrades that were made were well considered and the original parts were retained. This guitar remains in excellent VOS condition, showing just light pick scuffs in the playing area and on the pickguard. The frets are in excellent condition showing little to no observable wear. It comes in it's original brown Gibson case, also in excellent condition, along with the certificate of authenticity.

This is a great ES-335. There weren't many of these made and even fewer make their way to the used market. Grab this beauty while it is available. You will be very glad you did!
