Here we have a 1930 Gibson Nick Lucas Special that is one sweet little guitar. It has some mods, a few repairs, and a complete refinish, but has managed to hold onto its vintage mojo in all the important ways. It plays really well and sounds great. Inside the soundhole is its nearly 90-year-old original label in good condition with handwritten serial number and a description of the guitar as a Nick Lucas Special made by Gibson in Kalamazoo, Mich., U.S.A. The label also shows an image of the guitar’s namesake, Nick Lucas, proudly holding his own “Nick Lucas” guitar.
A set of StewMac Golden Era tuners has been added so tuning stability is great. The bridge, saddle, and bridgeplate have been replaced. There is a repaired brace and a top patch under the bridge. The entire guitar has been refinished in gloss black which contrasts beautifully with the ivory hued body and fingerboard binding. A neck reset and refret have this Nick Lucas Special playing perfectly. Comes with a modern hard case. You really can’t miss with this one.
