This 1978 Gibson RD Artist is in very good vintage cosmetic condition and is in excellent playing order. This has been played quite extensively in its 47 years and it shows signs of use and age throughout including some bumps and bruises, dings, forearm wear, finish wear on the back of the neck, some tarnish of the gold metal hardware and a small piece of binding is missing on the right side corner of the peghead. This guitar is worn just right and feels like an old glove! This RD is all original throughout with the exception of one tone pot which we replaced here in the shop (the original pot is included but not functional). This cool old Gibson still sports its original Moog electronics which are functioning well with the exception of the “expansion” effect. The compressor and the active preamp are functioning perfectly. This RD has a dynamite feeling three-piece maple neck with medium “C” shaped profile and a 1 11/16” nut width. The original frets on this guitar have been dressed and are in good condition with plenty of life in them. The ebony fingerboard is very clean and looks absolutely killer paired with the contrasting bright white mother of pearl inlay. This guitar has just received a pro set up here in our shop and it plays stellar up and down the fingerboard with low smooth action and spot on intonation - a truly righteous player! The original PAT# stamped Gibson humbucking pickups sound fantastic and this guitar makes it easy to dial up some bitchin' 1970s classic rock tones. It also excels with a high gain amp and completely rips with any Muff flavored fuzz. This RD is not unwieldy and is very balanced on a strap or when sitting. This thing weighs in at 9lb 2oz. It is housed in its original Gibson rectangular hard shell case with red plush interior and includes it original Gibson/Moog schematic.
