1978 Gibson RD Artist Bass Sunburst

Launched in 1977, the RD line of guitars and basses were Gibson's answer to a growing demand for more versatility to compete with modern builders of the era. This early example from 1978 features the less common Sunburst finish and ebony fingerboard, as well as the original Moog designed electronics that give these their distinct sound. With the Firebird inspired, offset design and maple body, these guitars have a bright, aggressive tone that found favor with great players like John Entwistle of the Who and Krist Novoselic of Nirvana.
