1977 Gibson RD Custom Walnut Stain

DESCRIPTION
For your consideration a 1977 Gibson RD Custom with a Walnut finish! The Research and Development model! Anyone else have goosebumps?! A whole lot to unpack here! Hard to say whats the most unique feature to this already rare RD Custom model. Maple fingerboard? The RD Firebird/Explorer body shape? Walnut stain? or is it the 25.5″ scale length on a Gibson!? Wait it has Moog active electronics? Built in Moog Expansion (bass and treble boost) and a Bright switch! Comes with its original booklet! The pick ups have been replaced but doesn’t seem to effect the preamp. We are absolutely thrilled to have this one in the shop!

Specs!

This guitar is in very good condition and comes with its original hard shell case as well as original manual! The original pick ups have been replaced with a Gibson Pat # (Neck) and 80s Seymour Duncan ’59b (bridge). Healthy amount of player wear on the back of the instrument.

1-11/16″ nut width. 25.5″ scale length.

Maple neck with a depth of .78″ (1st fret) and .90″ (12th fret). Maple fingerboard with a 12″ radius. Action measures 4/64″ straight across.

Original 22 large low-wide frets are in excellent condition.

Maple body with a walnut stain finish. Non-original Gibson Pat # (neck) and 80s Seymour Ducan ’59b (bridge). Original wiring/electronics Moog Expander & Bright switch.

Nickel Nashville Tune-O-Matic and stop bar tail piece. Nickel Grover tuners.
