SN: 366A. Fans of the Stage Deluxe claim the early configuration with the smaller sound hole and two scalloped tone bars are superior to the later ones. They’ll get no argument from me. Converted in the shop of Alan Perlman, this is a virtual powerhouse that also has great nuance and complexity. The conversion included neck reset, frets installed, new bridge, nice tall intonated saddle, and new fitted bridge pins (originals are in the case). Alan also recarved the neck from 2 1/8” at the nut to a comfortable 1 13/16”. It plays very comfortably up the neck and the intonation is perfect. The guitar excels in many styles and responds to a pick and fingers. It has terrific volume but also wonderful overtones. The condition is vintage excellent with some minor temperature cracks stabilized by Perlman. The tuners are the original Grovers with the ivoroid buttons and the case is the original black Gibson red-line with the purple felt interior. Overall a rare and wondrous beast.
