1965 Gibson SG JR Cherry

For your consideration a 1965 Gibson SG Jr. refinished in Cherry! We’ve got a real player grade Gibson here! This is an awesome way to get a 60’s Gibson for a fraction of the price. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. Beautiful old mahogany. Action set perfectly. Killer vintage Gibson tail piece but with a modern Faber tone bar, making it easy to switch between trem and stop tail. The Pat# Humbucker rips. A real no brainer.

Specs! This guitar is in good condition. The whole guitar has been refinished in cherry. The tuners have been replaced with a set of Schallers. Non-original nut with a 1-9/16″ width. Mahogany neck with a depth of .80″ at the first fret and .98″ at the twelfth fret. 24.75″ scale length. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with a 12″ radius. 22 large frets are in very good condition. Mahogany body refinished in Cherry. The body was slightly routed for a Pat# decal Humbucker by Gibson. A brass mounting plate was added for the pick up. Non-original Fabe tone bar (original in the case). Gibson vibrato tail piece. Non-original Schaller strap buttons. Comes with a non-original hard shell case. Weighs 6 pounds and 8 ounces.

History:

The SG body shape was first introduced in 1961 and was initially called a Les Paul. Not to the namesakes liking, they would rename it the SG in 1963. The Junior models were original created to be a more affordable model but quickly became ideal for players who embodied the “less is more” mentality. They typically featured a single P-90 in the bridge with a wrap around tail piece and more modest appointments.
