I had never seen a 1970 SG Special that looked like a late 1960's Special, but now we have 2! This one is far nicer than the other one, pot codes 10th week of 1970 (if memory serves), small volute, 3 piece neck, no "Made in USA". One of the last! This one has the hugest neck I have ever felt on a Gibson from that era- .908" at the first fret, .910 at the 12th, 1.58 at the nut. The frets show wear, but not much- it plays great, and the P-90's are just wonderful. Appears fully original, no repairs or breaks, truss rod works, just a monster of a guitar. Weighs 7 pounds, 1.2 ounces, and has the early 70's black wooden form fit case. There is players wear, it hasn't sat in a closet all it's life, but has survived in great shape, and has been in a collection the last many years, a buddy who is pretty discerning about his instruments- when he told me it was a good one I didn't even need to see it. I love SG's, have played them since 1972, and really dig this one. Thanks for looking!
