You know what you don't see a lot of? Collector grade SG's. They are fragile and they have neck issues from a stress crack to a full on break at the heel. They kept changing the design because so many were breaking. So, what I have here is an early 65 (64 pot codes but 65 serial) that has no issues at all. No checking, no stress cracks, no broken solder, no changed parts or mods. It's simply exactly as it came from the factory including the frets. It always had flat wounds, so the fret wear is minimal-there even a vintage set of flats in the case. All nickel hardware. It's got that perfect 64/65 neck profile that starts fairly slim (with big shoulders) and gets huge (1") at the 12th fret. Slightly over-wide nut at 1.695" (between 1 11/16 and 1 3/4"). Aside from a few dinks on the back of the neck, one at the edge near the three way and some minor case wear to the edges, it's near perfect. This could be the best SG out there. And it plays beautifully and sounds like a rock and roll monster. Sealed nickel patents (same as a PAF). The red finish is as vibrant as the day it left Kalamazoo. Near mint original case too.
