2001 Gibson SG Standard Cherry Red

Excellent condition featuring asymmetrical double pointed cutaway contoured mahogany body, large multi-ply black and white pickguard with beveled edges (replacement gold screws), two Brandonwound T-Top humbucking pickups (the original Gibson 498T and Gibson 490R pickups are included, but the pickup cover is missing on the bridge position 490R), two volume controls and two tone controls with black reflector top knobs, three-way pickup selector switch with black and gold Rhythm and Treble selector ring and white tip, output jack on the front of the body, stop tailpiece, ABR-1 tune-o-matic bridge with six individual adjustable steel saddles and two height adjustment wheels, set mahogany neck, bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid trapezoid inlays starting at the third fret, bone nut, Gibson open book peghead shape, black peghead face with pearl Gibson logo and decorative crown inlays, multi-ply bell shaped truss rod cover with SG engraving, three per side Gibson Kluson Deluxe tuning machines with green keystone buttons, serial number and Made in USA impressed into the back of the peghead, single ply black plastic electronics cavity control cover plate (replacement gold screws), Cherry Red finish, two metal strap buttons and original Gibson USA branded black Tolex covered hard shell case with white plush interior (one missing latch - see photos). This guitar weighs 6lb 10oz.

This 2001 Gibson SG Standard is in excellent cosmetic condition with only minor signs of play wear including some pick scratches on the guard and two small dings in the finish on the edge of the body and on the front by the knobs (see photos). The neck profile on this guitar is that of a round chunkier carve with a 1 11/16" nut width and feels very nice in hand and very comfortable. The fret wire on this SG shows almost no signs of wear and should last its new owner for years to come. This instrument plays outstanding up and down the fingerboard. The pickups in this guitar have been changed to Brandonwound T-Tops which are a great upgrade to this SG. The bridge pickup has a hollow, woody bite and the neck position is fatter with tons of clarity. This instrument excels with an overdriven amp and is completely capable of great clean sounds as well. These pickups are extremely well balanced together. This original set of 490R and 498T humbucking pickups which sound incredibly good are also included. This instrument is housed in its original black Gibson hard shell case. If you are after a stellar rock and roll classic, this SG Standard is up to the task.
