Offered for sale;

Used 1979 Gibson SG Standard left hand version serial number 72609069. This guitar is in very good condition, neck and frets are fine, cosmetically there are a few small chips on the back. We are calling it very good but it’s closer to excellent condition.

A special highlight of this guitar is the pickup upgrade.

The neck pickup is the original tar back however; the bridge pickup is the enviable Seymour Duncan JBJ “Juarez”.

“The heart and soul of your guitar has to connect with your own heart and soul,” says Seymour Duncan Custom Shop manager Maricela “MJ” Juarez.

Juarez has worked alongside Seymour Duncan for more than 30 years, establishing herself as the legendary pickup builder’s most trusted collaborator. She’s also become a custom pickup builder to the stars, helping the guitar’s most demanding tone junkies connect better with their instruments. Some say she’s wound more pickups heard on gold and platinum records than anyone. Her clientele includes Billy Gibbons, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Eddie Van Halen, Vince Gill, Slash, James Taylor, Peter Frampton, Warren DeMartini, and Steve Miller—not to mention countless discerning players around the globe.

A brief refresher on the “SG”.

Originally introduced in 1961 as a thinner, flat topped Les Paul with double cutaway's and the neck joint moved by three frets to further ease access to the upper frets. The simpler body construction significantly reduced production costs, and the new Les Paul, with its slender neck profile and small heel was advertised as having the "fastest neck in the world". Les Paul himself favored his original design over the new one; hence eventually the Les Paul name was replaced by SG (solid guitar).

So began the legacy.

These wonderful lithe Mahogany beauties have an enduring appeal and a long rock & roll history. This "SG Lefty" is a very desirable guitar that is ready to go!

Hard shell case included.

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
