DESCRIPTION
For your consideration a 1942 Gibson Southern Jumbo with a Sunburst finish! The Southern Jumbo was introduced in 1942 essentially as a Deluxe J-45! It featured their premium wood, 5 ply binding, a walnut strip down the back and split parallelogram inlays! Amazing one piece neck! From the first year of production! At over 70 year old this guitar has been loved and played! It has had all of the necessary repairs needed for it to continue to be loved and most importantly played! Super big vintage neck! Beautiful big sound. Warm and mellow when played lightly or close to the neck. Tons of punch and projection when digging. Perfect for all sorts of flat picking and rhythm guitar playing!

Specs! This guitar is in good condition. It has had a neck reset. There is overspray on the back of the neck but there is no evidence of a crack or break. The bridge has been replaced with a rosewood bridge. A top crack by the pick guard has been repaired. Back cracks have been glued and cleated. It has a new bone nut. The fingerboard has been plained. It has been refretted with 19 Jumbo frets currently in very good condition. At some point another set of tuners was installed, leaving little tuner hole in the headstock. It currently has period correct tuners with new buttons. 1-3/4″ nut width. 25.75″ scale length. Mahogany neck with a depth of .98 at the first fret and 1.15″ at the twelfth. Pre-Truss rod. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with a 12″ radius. Spruce top with mahogany back and sides. Sunburst finish. Original Maple bridge plate. Original pick guard. Weighs 3 pounds and 15.3 ounces!

Modifications: This guitars has had a neck reset at some point. This guitar has some overspray on the back of the neck. Back cracks have been glued and cleated. The fingerboard has been plained. It has been refretted. Period correct tuners with new buttons have been installed, there are holes were other tuners were installed. Top cracks have been repaired. The bridge was replaced.

Comments: Only Gibson is good enough!
