Just in- 1944 (banner) Gibson Southern Jumbo- a very rare piece indeed. Banner Gibsons are spoken about in reverent tones for many reasons. A book entitled "Kalamazoo Gals" has even been written and published wherein the story of this era at Gibson is told. The publication has certainly enhanced the allure of these guitars. The Southern Jumbo was the top of the line flagship slope shoulder guitar of the Gibson line. But of course the SJ is far more than just a fancier dressed up J-45 with more aesthetic inlays and binding. The best woods including the top grade Adirondack spruce tops of the day were reserved for this expensive and scarcely produced model. This particular example is in very nice condition and is all original except the bridge. There are a few well repaired cracks. Lively and full in sound, beautiful in aesthics, and coveted in terms of collectibility and investment. 10,500 dollars.
