Description

Summary: The Gibson Super 400 is an iconic guitar that has been a flagship of the Gibson guitar line for years. The Super 400 got its name from the original price tag - $400……it was nearly $100 higher than any other guitar in the line at the time & it would have turned out to be a very sound investment! This archtop acoustic is in great shape & it ships with the original hardshell case.

Body: Hollowbody archtop with a spruce top & maple back and sides. This jumbo guitar is a whopping 18” wide at the lower bout.

Neck: This Gibson has a really beautiful fully bound flame maple neck with an ebony fingerboard, block inlays, 25.5” scale length, 1 9/16” nut width, original tuning keys. This guitar has a thinner profile “C” shape.

Pickups/Hardware: 2 original humbucker pickups, gold hardware, 2 volume knobs, 2 tone knobs, 3-way switch, trapeze tailpiece.

Cosmetics: This guitar shows wear & tear consistent with a well-played but loved guitar from the late 1960’s – there are pick scratches on the pickguard & a few dings here and there. The checking on this guitar is in full effect – the neck, the back, the headstock & the top all show very cool checking. The back of the neck also has several small dings & nicks but they do not affect playability.

Playability: We recently set this old Gibson up with a new set of 10’s and it plays and sounds great. The action is low & the guitar plays good up & down the fingerboard. The frets are in good shape & have a lot of life left in them.

Modifications: The pickguard is an older repro pickguard.

Weight: 8 lbs, 11 oz.

Case: This Gibson ships with the original Gibson hardshell case with orange lining inside
