Description

This is an all original mahogany tenor guitar from Gibson which dates to 1927, according to the FON listed in the Spann's Guide.

A very lightly built instrument with mahogany top, back, sides and neck. The bridge and fingerboard are Brazilian rosewood. The head stock is painted black and sports 'The Gibson' in silver. Tuners are Grover, and the neck has an adjustable truss rod.

The body measures 12 11/16" across at the lower bout, and the scale length is 22 11/16". Top and back are bound in white celluloid, and there is a w/b/w sound hole ring. The bridge is nicely sculpted, and retains its original 'spare' pin; the four black pins are replacements.

There appears to be an old crack repair on the top, and some cellophane tape residue. There is finish wear to the back of the neck, and various nicks and dings from use. Otherwise, the guitar is all original with a recent neck reset.

The guitar guitar plays smoothly, and the tone is woody with enough chop to function as a rhythm instrument in a small combo.

Comes with a '50s soft case.
