c. 1928 Gibson TG-0 tenor guitar
The TG-0 is an early all mahogany Gibson tenor guitar with "The Gibson" in script on the headstock. The end pin and saddle are replaced but other than those two items everything else is original including the beautifully sculptural rosewood bridge. The bridge has a hole below the row of pin holes that would have originally had an ornamental 5th pin installed, that pin is missing. The guitar has no cracks in the top or back, the treble side has one repaired straight crack (about 1 1/2" in length) that is tight, level and stable. All of the interior bracing is secure and original. The original finish shows plenty of nicks, dings and scrapes, some of which have been lightly touched up, others left alone. There is also a faint outline of a pickguard that was on the guitar top 50 years ago (according to the previous owner). Some finish came off the top when that guard was removed. That missing finish was conservatively touched up to seal the bare wood. The neck is straight under tension and the top is flat. The frets are in good condition as well. The original Grover banjo style tuners work well and hold tune. The neck angle is good. Currently the guitar needs nothing in terms of repair or service. The guitar plays with action at 6/64" and 5/64"at the 12th fret, very comfortable. Great big voice for such a small guitar, you won't be disappointed. Comes with its original chipboard case, which is in good condition with a little bit of seam deterioration in the usual places but it is holding together well, and all of the latches, hinges and handle intact and functional. $1300

Items are sold with a 48 hour approval period unless clearly marked "AS IS" in the listing. AS IS items are not returnable. If an item is going to be returned it is at the buyer's expense and the item must be shipped within 24 hours of the buyer notifying Kovacik Guitars of intent to return. Any returned items must be shipped in the original packaging and MUST be fully insured when returned. Once an item is returned to Kovacik Guitars and judged to be in the same condition as when originally sold a full refund will be issued.
