Silverburst! And a curious variant on the SG Standard, of which some were renamed "The 'SG'" in 1981. See, it's even orthographically tricky because the model name on the truss rod cover puts "the" in cursive italics and the "SG" in quotes. Anyhow, this one is quite clean, great weight at 7 pounds, and that lovely Silverburst finish which, as Gibson sometimes did in the period, is bursted on basically every surface, not just the top. Unbound ebony board with pearl dots, no volute but "Made in USA" marking, "watch case" Gibson-branded tuners with metal keystone buttons, ABR-1 bridge with TP-6 tailpiece, 3-ply black pickguard, 3-way pickup selector, black speed knobs. Speaking of the pickups this otherwise original guitar has a matching pair of Gibson humbuckers from 1972 with the groovy "Gibson" diagonally-embossed logos on the covers. Plays and sounds great, made in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, and comes in its original "Protector" case. Having worn out the quotation marks key on my keyboard, I will leave you to admire the lovely photos of this uncommon and very cool guitar. Consigned.
