Description

Offered for sale; 1987 Gibson US-1 serial number  81267612.

This guitar is in excellent condition. Neck and frets are fine, cosmetically quite clean. There is a SEC stamping on the back of the headstock indicating factory second. We don’t see any outward reason for that discriminator.

The US-1, produced between 1987 and 1994, is a superstrat style guitar designed by Wayne Charvel and was Gibson's first mass produced superstrat. It has a basswood body frame with a balsa (Chromyte) core to reduce weight (like the Studio Lite models) but the top and back are bound figured maple. The neck is maple with an ebony fingerboard and 25.5” scale length with a 1 11/16” nut width. The bridge is a tune-o-matic with string saver saddles and a stop tailpiece is utilized. The pickups are three "New Design" ultra hot Gibson single and double coil pickups - one humbucker and two single coils. These are controlled by three mini switches. The hardware and mini Grover tuners are gold. The split diamond inlays and iconic 1958 Korina Flying V raised golden plastic headstock logo with pointed peghead are very attractive touches.

This is a very interesting piece of Gibson guitar evolution, weighing in at 7.2lbs, the tone is warmer than an all maple instrument, we feel that is due to the interesting use of three different woods in its construction. This guitar plays and sounds great, playable and collectable.

Original hard shell case included.

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.
