Description

Capital Guitars is proud to announce that we are now an authorized distributor for Gil Yaron guitars! Our initial offering as a distributor is one of Gil's fabulous new Bone H guitars!

For a decade or so now, Gil has been building incredibly accurate replicas of classic Fender and Gibson designs. More recently, Gil has begun building his own guitar designs which capture the desirable qualities of the originals, while also improving on them with designs that are all his own. One result of his efforts is the Gil Yaron Bone, a line of guitars which now includes the Bone 1, the Bone H and the Bone 59 models.

The Bone has a shape all it's own but the size and scale are quite close to that of an LP and it fits perfectly in a Les Paul case. As with a Les Paul, the Bone utilizes a Gibson scale Mahogany neck with similar fret wire and nut width. Gil calls the neck a "soft V" but to me it feels like it came right off of a '59 Les Paul Reissue.

The Bone 1 and H models are typically equipped with Gil's own "Air-Gap" humbucking pickups which combine a PAF-style coil and the coil from a Broadcaster in each pickup. Adjustable poles in each coil allow Gil to dial-in a tone which is certainly reminiscent of a vintage PAF, but with more depth and clarity. The Bone 59 is typically equipped with a more traditional PAF-style humbucker.

The body of the Bone H starts with an old growth Mahogany body shell which Gill fills with a horseshoe-shaped insert of light weight Paulownia tonewood surrounding a center of solid Mahogany. In contrast, the body of the Bone 1 starts with a Mahogany shell which is filled completely with Paulownia resulting in an extremely light but solid body guitar. The body of the Bone 59 is made entirely of solid Mahogany just like a Les Paul. With it's unique construction and very special Air Gap II pickups, the Bone H incorporates the best qualities of both of it's siblings; the lighter weight and more complex tonal characteristics of the Bone 1 model, combined with the traditional feel and resonance of a solid Mahogany instrument.

This incredible 2016 Bone H weighs 8 pounds, 3 ounces. The depth of the neck measures .900" at the first fret and .990" at the twelfth fret. The Brazilian Rosewood fretboard has a 12" radius. It plays effortlessly and the tone is fabulous; the woody bite of an LP mixed with Tele twang, but with added chime and tonal complexity mixed in. You feel and hear the LP genetics, but the many small improvements Gil has made are evident. Don't take my word for it, however, David Hunter reviewed the Bone 1 and gave it Guitar Player's - Editors' Pick Award. The Bone H is similar to the Bone 1 tested, although a step closer in weight, tone and feel to that of a Les Paul.

This guitar is brand new and covered by applicable warranties. It is shown in a tweed LP case, but you may elect to receive the guitar in a Gator TSA case Gil ships these in if preferred. Other dealers offer this exact model for $10,950 by this example can be yours for a few hundred dollars less. Play a Bone once and all you will be able to say is, "wow". The Bone is Gil Yaron's work at it's best. Make this fabulous Bone H yours......
