Offered for sale:

Vintage 1981 G&L F-100 Series-I serial number G003341.

This guitar is in good to very good condition, neck and frets are fine, cosmetically there are numerous nicks and marks about the body, some through the finish, and a small ding on the back of the neck. There are marks on either side of the neck near the headstock, these are not burn marks, back in the '80s there were a few guitar stand and guitar hanger makers that used a rubber which reacted with the lacquer finish on some guitars. That is what you are seeing here. Beyond the discoloration the finish has not been damaged or softened.

Overall, this guitar is showing playing time and average wear for its age.

The G&L F-100 was based on Leo Fender’s Music Man Sabre guitar. Leo ended his relationship with Music Man 1979 and formed G&L. In an effort to produce instruments quickly, he refined the basic Sabre design and birthed the F-100 in mid-1980.

The F-100 featured two humbucking pickups, the very first guitar pickups employing Leo's new proprietary Magnetic Field Design technology with two rows of adjustable hexagon-shaped polepieces and ceramic magnets. It also featured G&L’s own Dual Fulcrum Vibrato bridge (which inspired Fender Guitars, in the late ‘80s, to update their vibrato system that they had been using since Leo invented the Strat in 1954).

The control layout features a master volume control, master tone control, bass control, phase switch and a coil split switch. When the phase switch is in the out of phase position (towards the nut), it overrides the pickup selector and both pickups are on. This also reduces bass content.
When the lead pickup is engaged and the guitar is “in-phase”, the treble control does not function. These are all factory designs and original to the guitar.

The coil split actually isn’t a coil split at all. That would no longer buck the hum. Leo developed a filtering system which caused the humbucker to sound like a single coil. (which just recently inspired Yamaha Guitars, on their RevStar series, to update their single coil sound by filtering their humbuckers).

This guitar is a great piece of Leo’s legacy, worthy of consideration.

Hard-shell case included.

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
