Rare is the day indeed when you open a case to find a virtually new old stock guitar in a complete and pristine package. I have to admit- we still get fairly excited when one of these beauties arrives, so I called the gang in to watch the unveiling.

I was the first to make any adjustments to this guitar, which was to line the tuners the same way for pictures and gently wipe it down. This S-500 still retains its original strings (still bright and fresh) and the factory setup, which is great. I was the first to open the accessories pack and pull out the case candy. The trem bar has never been inserted into the tremolo.

The purchase tags from the store that originally sold the guitar are present and you'll see a selling price of $1249.00 with an extra charge of $135.00 for the case. That's just how it was back in the day and if you ever visited Rhytmn City in Buckhead, Ga., you know exactly what I'm talking about. 'Ol George was quite the handful, to put it mildly.

There are no signs of any playwear on this guitar that I can find. The plastic is still on the pickguard as is the protective film instructions sticker. There are a couple of tiny spots on the tops of the chrome knobs, but this probably happened by the guitar just sitting in its case for all these years and I'm really, really dialing down to the minutia. No screw has ever been turned on this guitar, nor has the neck been removed. I cannot bring myself to do it to determine the exact year of manufacture, but I think I'm safe when I list it as being made between 1989 and 1991. I'll let the new owner take her apart if they so desire.

Simply put, this is, hands down the most complete and nicest vintage G&L package on the planet and if you are a fan of these guitars and are a discriminating collector or player, then here is your Excaliber. The case is in like condition and still has the protective green plastic on the outer latches. Ladies and Gentlemen, it just does not get any finer than this and we're quite proud to present this virtually NOS S-500.

Please call or email with any questions and as always, thank you all for stopping by!
