Description

This is a Gretsch 6120 from a debut batch of 1957 model year 6120's, serial # 21684. The guitar was originally purchased at Brentwood Music in Springfield, Missouri, and appears to have been owned by Rockabilly recording artist, Mike McAlister. The original case has his name professionally painted on the top. Mike McAlister released a hit single, "I Don't Dig It," on Hob Nob Records (Harrison, Arkansas) in 1959. A reissue copy of the 45 is included.

The guitar is a great playing and sounding vintage 6120, and has the following issues which make it a great value:

  1. Headstock repair with added Stinger.
  2. Pickup selector has been repositioned to lower side, with the original hole plugged.
  3. B-7 Bigsby with replaced arm is currently on guitar, with B-6 Bigsby in case (both period-correct).
  4. Grover tuners are currently on guitar, with original tuners in case.

Includes Original White Case with western trim, green interior, and "Mike McAlister" professionally painted on top, B-6 Bigsby, original tuners, and reissue 45 of "I Don't Dig It."
