Description

Offered for sale; 1958 Gretsch 6125 Anniversary Model serial number 28977.

"This popular new beauty is the "sports car" of the Gretsch line. Snappy, trim modern lines...exclusive built-in playing features that help give you the sound of distinction. A real knock out in two-tone Smoke Green".

This guitar is in excellent condition, neck and frets are fine. The binding is intact but it appears that a portion of the lacquer was scraped away on some areas of the back binding. It also appears that a different tail piece was installed at some time and then replaced with the "G" tailpiece again. There are a couple of small “chips and dings” on the lower bout of the top, nothing “glaring” overall a nice instrument.

In 1958 Gretsch marked the 75th anniversary of the company's founding with a pair of special Anniversary model guitars. These were offered in one- and two-pickup versions that have since been nicknamed as the Single Anniversary and Double Anniversary models.

This "Two-Tone Smoke Green" Single Anniversary features a sixteen inch wide, two and three-quarters inch thick, double-bound laminated maple body, trestle braced maple top with two unbound f-holes, a three-piece maple neck, unbound ebony fretboard with 21 original thin frets and neoclassic inlaid pearl half-moon (thumbprint) position markers. The black-faced headstock is adorned with an inlaid pearl Gretsch "T-roof" logo and "Anniversary Model" plaque with 'glistening' diamond. Individual Grover StaTite open-back tuners with oval metal buttons are fitted. One Gretsch 'Pat Applied For' Filter'Tron pickup with a silver lucite surround is mounted in the bass position. The green lucite pickguard also features a Gretsch "T-roof" logo. Additional features include one volume control on the upper treble bout and one three-way tone selector switch on the upper bass bout, six-saddle Space Control bridge on ebony base and "G-hole flat" tailpiece. The scale length is 24 ½ inches and the nut width is 1 5/8 inches.

This is a really cool piece of vintage Americana; very collectable and very playable. Experience that “Gretsch sound” as only a Gretsch can produce, just ask Brian Setzer.

Hard shell case included.

***Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.
***This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.
***It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.
