Up for sale, a 2014 Gretsch Chet Atkins G6121-1959 model in near mint condition and in perfect working order. This showroom clean Gretsch is a fairly uncommon model and a great spin on the Western 6120 aesthetic, albeit with a smaller chambered mahogany body and maple top like your favorite Duo Jet. The Filter'Tron humbucker pickups have Gretsch's signature power and midrange presence, with the top end twang and articulation that has made this instrument a favorite for Rockabilly and Western Swing. Acoustically the chambered body gives the instrument a prominent and clear voice, and while Gretsch is toting this as a solidbody guitar via their website, a quick tap test of the top reveals that there are clearly chambers in the mahogany as with other Jet instruments. As such, the guitar weighs in at a manageable 8lbs 4oz, which is truly a feat for any guitar with the weight of a Bigsby! Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Gretsch is minty clean and freshly restrung with 10-46 strings.

The neck has a fairly slender V shaped profile with an ebony fretboard and flawless fretwire. The neck also features pearloid thumbnail inlays, a zero fret, and a hand-carved bone nut that measures 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the abalone horseshoe inlay ties in the Western look of the guitar, along with an inlaid Gretsch logo and gold Grover Sta-Tite tuning machines.

All of the gold hardware is flawless, as is the factory chrome Bigsby, which works very smoothly with a stiff spring that's great for quick dives and surfy shimmies. The Gretsch roller bridge also adds to the smoothness of the Bigsby action, and the mass of the bridge contributes to the excellent sustain of the instrument as well. All of the electronics work as they should, with a Master Volume on the treble side body horn, individual Volume controls on the lower bout, and three-way Volume and Tone switches on the bass side of the body.

Cosmetically, this guitar is truly showroom clean and a "case queen," with no notable wear. While we hesitate to call any guitar "mint," this Gretsch is very close and there's barely a scratch on it!

The original hardshell case, certificate of authenticity, and paperwork is included.
