Offered for sale;

Used 1965 Gretsch Chet Atkins Hollowbody 6120 serial number 80040.

This guitar is in very good condition. If not for binding and metal tarnish it would be excellent condition.

We replaced some missing binding on the treble and bass side of the neck. The rest of the binding has the expected Gretsch cracking syndrome but is stable. The mute has new rubber and as we stated a fair amount of the gold is tarnished. The neck and bridge volume control pot codes are both 1376547.

The Gretsch catalog from 1965 states;

“The handsome show piece of the fabulous Gretsch Chet Atkins line-the new slim Country Gentleman with the styling and tone that have made it the most desired electric guitar in the world. Slim 17” Electro-tone Hollow Body with simulated “F” holes, new double cutaway, 2” thickness, for ease of playing. Gold-plated Gretsch Bigsby Tremolo and Tailpiece. Adjustable rod-Actionflo neck. Satin ebony Neo-Classic fingerboard. 24-karat gold-plated metal parts. Filter’Tron bridge pickup and Super’Tron II fingerboard pickup. Built in double muffler. Standby switch. Padded back cushioned for comfort.”

The 6120 first appearing in the mid-1950s with the endorsement of Chet Atkins and was quickly adopted by rockabilly artists Eddie Cochran, Duane Eddy and later by George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Brian Setzer and many others. Pete Townshend received one as a gift from Joe Walsh in 1970, which he would later use on recordings for Who’s Next and Quadrophenia..

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
