DESCRIPTION
For your consideration a 1959 Gretsch Jet Firebird in Red! Little do most people know Ray Butts actually applied his patient for a humbucker the year before Seth Lover! This Firebird has a set of Ray Butts Patient Applied For Filter’tron humbuckers! Some of the best pick ups ever built and one of the big factors in giving these early Gretsch that classic Gretsch sound!

Specs! This guitar is good condition. The tuners have been replaced with a set of Grover Rotomatics. It has a new Bone nut with a 1-11/16″ width. Mahogany neck with a depth of .81″ at the first fret and .93″ at the twelfth fret. It has a 24.75″ scale length. A stress crack on the neck has been repaired (between 5th & 13th fret). Bound Ebony fingerboard with a 20″ radius. Some filler has been added to the fretboard around the 1st fret. The guitar has been refretted with 22 jumbo frets currently in very good condition. Chambard mahogany body with a maple top finished with a red top and black back and sides. Star-Club sticker added. Ray Butts P.A.F Filter’tron humbuckers with original wiring. Pick up rings cracking. Gretsch Rocking Bar bridge. Bigsby tremolo system. Comes with a non-original hard shell case. Weighs 8 pounds and 9 ounces.

It’s always a good day when we have a 50s Gretsch in the shop! Nothin like these P.A.F Filter’trons! Big, bright and articulate! Wonderful clear tone that works brilliantly for clean playing and equally well with a bit of grit! Very lively and resonant, very loud unplugged! Some one loved this guitar a whole lot! We wonder if this guitar ever stepped foot on the Star-Club stage where you could have seen The Beatles, Hendrix, Cream and Black Sabbath (just to name a few).
