This is a beautiful Bob Bennedetto Guild Artist Award model circa 2004. It was owned and used for years by the legendary and well loved John Pisano who has organized John Pisano's Guitar Night for 30 years in the LA area.
It has a 17" lower bout, a 25 1/2" scale length and a 1 3/4" nut width.
It features a handcarved bookmatched solid spruce top; highly figured tiger flame maple neck; handcarved bookmatched fiddleback flame maple back; flame maple sides; ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl/abalone split-block fingerboard; ornate "pitcher and star" abalone/pearl peghead inlay; 9-ply body and headstock binding, 5-ply pickguard and f-holes, bone nut, Benedetto signature inlay in fretboard.
This one has all original hardware, including engraved gold-plated tailpiece; compensated ebony bridge; gold Grover Super Rotomatic tuners; original quintuple-bound tortoise pickguard, floating Benedeto S-6 pickup with volume control and endpin jack. The label is signed by Bob Bennedetto. The label also states that is was "Handcrafted at The Fender Custom Shop in Carona, California" but I am told all of there models were made in R.I. but were finished in Carona after Fender bought the Guild Company. I welcome any comments on this. Striking deep Cherry Red finish, the guitar shows very minimal play wear, and shows near new. There is some slight finish flaking on the back of the neck behind the nut from where John put it in a guitar stand. It is in the finish only and would be an easy repair if desired. It comes with the original plush Guild hard shell case in excellent condition. John is a good friend and I could have him take a picture with the guitar and sign a note stating he owned and played it if the buyer would like.
