Summary: This rare Guild CA-100 has a wonderful sunburst finish, a rare De’Armond Guild Award Model pickup (likely a special order from Guild), florentine cutaway, replacement Schaller clear button tuning machines and it sounds & plays great. The serial # dates it to 1965.
Body: Fully bound top & back, archtop & arched back hollow-body electric guitar.
Neck: 3-piece mahogany/maple/mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard, 20 frets, block pearloid inlays, replacement Schaller tuning keys with clear buttons. The nut width is 1 11/16” and the scale length is 24.5”.
Pickups/Hardware: Original tailpiece, chrome hardware, DeArmond Guild Award Model pickup, rosewood bridge, includes an amphenol to ¼” cable that fits the input jack on the guitar.
Cosmetics: This instrument is in good shape for its age – there are some nicks & dings on the top & the back, pick-scratches on the pickguard & some visible wear around the edges, all consistent with a played but cared for guitar from the mid 1960’s. The gloss on the back of the neck is wearing off in various places & the frets do show some wear but they still have some life left in them. This guitar feels solid & it sounds powerful with that rare DeArmond Artist pickup!
Playability: This Guild plays great! We set this baby up with flatwound strings & the action is low and comfortable and the guitar plays with no dead spots up & down the fingerboard
Modifications: The original tuning keys have been replaced with a high-quality Schaller tuning key with clear buttons and you can still see the holes from the original tuning keys.
Weight: 5 lbs, 14 oz.
Case: Nice old-style hard shell case with black exterior & red interior
