Offered for sale:
Used c1989 Guild D-40 serial number DD401090, made in Westerly RI.
This guitar is in good condition. Cosmetically there are some nicks and marks with general playing wear without abuse.
The neck angle is good and the action is right because the bridge had been shaved to avoid a costly neck reset. This practice is effective but rarely used any more. Our lower than average price reflects this repair.
The frets are fine and the tone is very resonant and alive.
The Guild D-40 NT (Natural Top), early models of the D-40 (and now reissues) also named Bluegrass Jubilee. Featuring a dreadnought shape with a long scale, Solid spruce top, x-bracing, and solid Mahogany back and sides. Unlike some other Guilds, the back is braced, solid, and flat rather than press-arched and laminate. This a key ingredient that gives it more of a "classic dreadnought" tone.
The D-40 mahogany neck is topped with an Indian rosewood fingerboard and is joined to the body with an authentic dovetail joint. This dreadnought is appointed with a tortoiseshell pickguard, rosette, and binding, a Guild Chesterfield on the headstock, and Grover tuners.
These early Guild dreadnought guitars are great sounding instruments. The have a significant place among the aficionados. Don’t forget Richie Havens at Woodstock!
Hard-shell case included.

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.
